Takashi Murakami sows confusion in the Palace of Versailles

When the Takashi Murakami’s works appeared in the Galerie des Glaces and in the Grands Appartements of the Palace of Versailles, they created a major controversy. They have generated criticism and protests. People does not seem to like the linking of these works inspired by the mangas and the kawaii culture combined with the classic decor of Versailles. And yet, Versailles has brilliantly dared the blend of styles, offering a discrepancy perfectly controlled and successful. It is good to look at these monstrous or charming characters, in this world full of delightful gilt, origin of many symbols of our history. With Murakami, a little levity works in Versailles and allows us to shake our principles, sometimes a bit too stilted. Thank you, Monsieur Murakami.

Opened everyday except on Mondays from 9am until 6.30pm ( 5.30pm from December 1st)
